BAC 50 | Benzalkonium Chloride
Benzalkonium chloride (BAC 50) is a quaternary ammonium-based biocide with an optimised alkyl chain length distribution. It can be used for the preparation of disinfectants, cleaners and timber preservation formulations, production of fungicidal/algicidal washers and other similar applications.
Benzalkonium chloride is readily soluble in ethanol, IPA and acetone. Although dissolution in water is slow, aqueous solutions are easier to handle and are preferred. Solutions should be neutral to slightly alkaline, with colours ranging from colourless to pale yellow. Solutions foam profusely when shaken.
