Frequently Asked Questions

BAC 50 | Benzalkonium Chloride

What is BAC50?
Benzalkonium chloride (BAC 50) is a quaternary ammonium-based product used for the preparation of disinfectants, cleaners, and timber preservation formulations.
Is there a minimum / maximum temperature for using BAC50?
5° and up is ideal. If using below, decrease the dilution rates: 50:1 above 5°, 40:1 below 5°.
If you apply BAC50 and it rains, will it still be effective?
The stronger the concentration, the less time it needs to stay undisturbed.
Does the surface need to be saturated or misted before applying BAC50?
The surface needs to be saturated. Spray on and brush in for even coverage.
How soon do you see a change after applying diluted BAC50?
Changes can be seen within a few days, but sometimes it may take weeks or months.
How long do the effects of BAC50 last?
Effects can last up to 6 months or longer, depending on conditions and surface type.

Sodium Hypochlorite

What is Sodium Hypochlorite and what can it be used for?
Sodium Hypochlorite is a corrosive liquid, above 6% available chlorine. It can be used for water purification, surface purification, bleaching, odour removal, and water disinfection. It is widely regarded as the best patio cleaner chemical on the market.
Are there any hard surfaces you need to take extra precautions with when using Sodium Hypochlorite?
Sodium Hypo shouldn’t be used on lead, aluminium, or decking. It could remove the colour pigment and change the appearance or finish of decking. If used too soon on new wood, it may need to be restained or reoiled. It is generally safe to use on resin bound driveways, subject to a test. Important: For resin bound driveways, don’t use vinegar!
Is Sodium Hypochlorite the best product to remove stubborn stains from the patio/driveway?
For stubborn and hard-to-remove stains, we advise Sodium Hypochlorite. Its formula is created to remove even the most difficult marks.
What is the dilution ratio for Sodium Hypochlorite?
The recommended dilution ratio is 5:1, however, the dilution ratio can be increased if needed.
How do you remove Sodium Hypochlorite from the driveway after cleaning (safely)?
Thoroughly rinse with water towards a safe drainage point, avoiding any nearby plants, flowerbeds, grass, or bodies of water.
Can I buy Sodium Hypochlorite if it's not for business purposes?
No, you cannot buy our Sodium Hypochlorite. However, you can buy our Patio Cleaner, which is at a slightly lower dilution ratio than Sodium Hypochlorite but will achieve the same results with a lower dilution ratio.
After cleaning with Sodium Hypochlorite, how long should I wait before letting my pet out?
You should wait 2 full days before allowing pets onto the surface; after this, it is perfectly safe for your four-legged friends.

Patios, gravel, stone, tarmac, and other hard surfaces.
Can Acetic Acid be used on marble?
